How to Set Up Pools and Brackets for Your Tournament

This guide will walk you through the steps to create and manage pools and brackets for your tournament.

Step 1: Access the Scheduling and Scoring Tab

Login to Your Association Dashboard

• Visit EventConnect Login and log in with your credentials.
• Navigate to Manage Events
  On the dashboard, click "My Association", then on the right side of the screen, select "Manage Events".
• Select Your Event
  Click on the title of the event you want to create a schedule for.

Step 2: Open Scheduling and Scoring - Pools & Brackets

• Access the Scheduling Menu
  From your Event Owner Dashboard, select "Scheduling and Scoring" from the navigation menu.
• Choose Pools & Brackets
  A sub-navigation menu will appear. Select Pools & Brackets to begin building your tournament structure.

 

 Step 3: Building Your Bracket

• Select a Division
  Click on the division you want to create a bracket for.
   
• Create Your Bracket
  After selecting the division, click the Create Bracket button.

• Configure Bracket Settings
  Choose the format for your bracket (e.g., Round Robin, Single Elimination, Double Elimination, or Consolation).
   
  • Name your bracket
  • the Game Length
  • Define the Rest Time between games.
     
• Create the Bracket
  Click Create to finalize your bracket

Step 4: Managing Pools

• Select Teams
  After creating your bracket, you can select the teams you want to include in your pools. Click on the Teams input to choose your teams.
   
• Choose Number of Pools
  Use the Pools input to define how many pools you want your teams to be grouped into.
   
• Add Placeholder Teams
  If you are waiting for additional teams to register, you can add Placeholder teams.
   
• Assign Teams to Pools
  Drag and drop teams to assign them to specific pools. You can rank teams within each pool by reordering them.
   
• Save Your Draft
  Click Save to create a draft of your game schedule.

 

Step 5: Managing Game Matchups

• Pre-Generated Matchups
  Once pools are created, matchups will be pre-generated based on the bracket format and the number of Guaranteed Pool Play Games.
• View Other Pools
  Use the Pool dropdown menu to view matchups from other pools.
• Edit Matchups
  • Hover over a matchup and click the swap icon to change the home team.
  • You can also delete matchups or create new ones as needed.
• Review Pool Summary
  On the left side of the page, you'll see a summary of each pool, including the total number of games and home games for each team.
• Finalize Pool Play Matchups
  Once you are satisfied with the matchups, click Create Games to move on to scheduling.

Step 6: Finalizing and Scheduling Your Bracket

• Open the Matchup Configuration Modal
  If your venue and its availability have already been set up, click on a game to open the Matchup Configuration modal.

Specify Time and Location

• Select the Options tab and toggle Specify Time and Location.
• Set the venue location, date, and start time for each matchup.

Step 7: Update Your Bracket Status

• Change Bracket Status
  To update your bracket's status from draft to active, scroll to the top of the page and toggle the badge from Draft to Active.
